To begin with – I have only “played with both of these devices, although I have used a Samsung Galaxy extensively.  There was much debate when Samsung launched their 7 inch table compared to the 10 incher from Apple.  My opinion, the smaller form factor of the Galaxy is more portable, easier to carrier – which means it will be used more often.  However, you have to give credit where credit is due and the iPad is slick and easy to use.  And Apple got this right in large part because they made iTunes (the software which is used to talk to the iPad, iPhone, iPod) the centre of their universe.  For a user if you using an iPhone you will invariably be using iTunes – use the same cable to sync both your iPad and iPhone.  Sweet, easy and simple.  The Galaxy on the other hand, until a few weeks ago, had a cumbersome piece of software call Kies (why and how to pronounce that remains a mystery).  It is a difficult pice of software to use to synchronise with Outlook.  They have tried to improve it with a neat piece of software call Kies Air – but this is seriously flawed because you can’t sync with Outlook at all.

They say that the Galaxy is an iPad killer – but until they get their software sorted out – this is going to prove to be a bit of a non-event.
